Don't Get Shirty.

Today I wanted to share with you this beautiful dress I was bought as a present from James for our 5th Anniversary. Along with flowers, THE cutest card he has given me to date and a trip to London, lunch AND dinner, I was fortunate enough to be treated to this little stunner.

I am not sure if it is a little embarrassing to admit, or just a little weird, but when I go shopping I never even usually try anything on in Fred Perry or any shop of that sort, I get a little awkward when it comes to spending large sums of money on myself (minus shoes) and as a result just admire their clothes from the comfort of their rail. But on this particular visit to the Covent Garden branch of Fred Perry, this dress really stood out and it was the last one in my size - eeek!

Off I skipped to the changing room and peeked out when I had slipped it on to drag James over to see what he thought, as you probably guessed he really liked it and said he would treat me. Now you might be thinking what is weird or embarrassing about that? Urrrrrrmmmmm, I then proceeded to cry aha!!!!! I was so overwhelmed with being treated to so many lovely things and then a pretty new frock, and a Fred Perry frock at that, something which I never thought I would own that I just got a little carried away with all these emotions and shed a little tear. Oopsies.

If the girl who was working in there on Sunday 6th October 2013 ever reads this and remembers this event then I apologise for being an emotional fool, James hadn't been mean (we joked that she probably thought we was having a lovers tiff), I hadn't found out my pet gold fish had died, just that I had a new dress. Sozza!!

Please tell me that at least one of you have had some random burst of emotions - don't let me be the only one!!!

Blogger's Appreciation

On my travels through the bloggersphere I have come across several blogs and bloggers that I have utterly fallen for. I am still relatively new in the world of all things blog and have been welcomed with open arms by some of the loveliest girls. As a little thank you for being so kind but also purely because I can not get enough of your blog, I wanted to share with everyone else your fabulous pages and hopefully those who are yet to create a blog feel inspired to do so and join  my little growing list of favourite beauties.

So in no particular order, let me introduce you to...

Saranne is the little beauty behind Blue Eyed With Style, her outfits are always so delish and the perfect mix of on-trend pieces, vintage buys and grungy DM's. After every post I am pining for a huge charity shop and eBay spree so my wardrobe can be filled with such beautiful vintage pieces as hers - major girl crush I am telling you!
I first fell in love with her when I read her post on heated rollers. If you check her blog be sure to read this post - not only does she make wearing the rollers look incredibly glamorous, but she was so helpful in giving me advice on what ones to pick for myself. I have to put my hands up though - even after all your help I still haven't taken the plunge. Sozzles - I now know what I want from father Christmas this year!!

Fragile Bird has been one of my most favourite blogs right from the start of me venturing into the big, bad world of blogging. Just take a look at her page let alone her posts and you will know what I mean. Helen has made everything just looks so pretty, my eyes are in a little nautical heaven when I check out her latest posts. Fragile Bird is such a great mix of lifestyle and fashion posts with a few beauty recommendations thrown in for good measure. I have a little crush on her fringe and her comments always make me smile. We have a shared love for Primark and I think it is getting to the stage where I head to her blog before I hit the town just to make sure what to look out for in there. Be sure to take a peek - your eyes will love you forever!
Before I even start talking about how incredibly knowledgeable and helpful Chanelle Jade is, can we all just take a moment and just look at her face? AHA! She is beautiful and I feel the need to go and buy every piece of make up she wears is growing increasingly strong the longer I browse her page. Not only is she stunning but is the first beauty who I started chatting to in the land of blog. She is such a friendly and kind person and always has such lovely things to say about me but also in general. I would like to give an extra special thank you for helping me feel like I had a place in all this blogging lark - I hope that we continue to chat and update one another and maybe one day do our bloggers meet up that we were talking about!

Blooming El' is the newest blog that I have not been able to stop reading since its creation at the beginning of this month, it is the loveliest, most personal and heart warming thing I have read in a very, very long time! Eleanor's adventures with her boyfriend Gareth, brought teeny tiny tears to my eyes and his response to her 'An Unlikely Romance' post is the cutest thing ever. That made me teary too! I love the way she writes and how down to earth she is. Plus how could you not love her cute face! She is such a lovely little beauty and I am fortunate enough to know her outside blogging too. It is nice being able to have a sneak peak into the life of someone who I don't always get the chance to talk to! Be sure to head to Eleanor's page and give her a huge hello as she starts her blogging journey!

Another all-rounder is Jade from Gracious Silhouettes with posts about fashion, beauty and all the adventures in between. I find her blog is such an interesting read and I love her feature on tattoo's. Her le lover is an amazing tattoo artist and has a feature dedicated to his work; 'Paul's Piece of the Month'. If I didn't want a tattoo as it is, I definitely do after seeing all his beautiful creations. Jade's 'Currently' post is one of my favourite features across all the blogs I read, her 'About Me' is my favourite by far and one that I completely relate to. Sometimes my blog or my profile (I haven't worked out which - hopefully it isn't only me who struggles) doesn't let me comment all the lovely things I would like to say and or the things I relate to or find funny etc. SOOOO I would like to take the chance now to let you know how much I do enjoy reading your blog - I would like to be able to tell you more frequently but as technology is sometimes evil and against me, I am unable to! Please keep posting all your interesting adventures and outfit posts - I hope you are closer to finding your feet <3

Collette is the cutie from Shrewd Fox and has the nicest hair and brows I have ever seen in my life. Check her instagram and you will know what I mean! I love her mix bag of reviews from beauty to books and find her blog so relatable. She is a fellow lover of The Maccabees and that in itself means we should be best friends for ever and ever (although Orlando if you ever read this, think more 'Colour It In' rather than 'Given to the Wild', whilst these are both great albums, 'Colour It In' is phenomenal). She is such a sweet girl and this definitely shows in all her tweets, instagram comments and especially in her 'First Love, Last Love, Only Love, It's Only Love' post.
Also, I don't know anyone who looks as amazing as she does in red lipstick - I have huuuuuge lip envy (I tried so hard coming up with a better description but my vocabulary failed me and thus resulted in something rather cringey/risqué instead - soooooorreeeey) Definitely check her blog out, and while your there head to her insta too - far too pretty!!!!!

So that's this months round up of my favourite blogs that I have enjoyed reading! There are a few others that I will definitely be including in a future bloggers appreciation post however felt as these ones have been on my reading list for THE longest time I felt I could give a better opinion and introduction to those who may not have had the chance to have a mooch at all these amazing pages.
I hope you take a mooch onto their blogs and love them as much as I do - be sure to let me know if you do like them and also if there are any other blogs you think I should take a look at!

Recently I have been trying to be more aware of my spending habits and thinking of ways to save a few extra notes at the end of the month. With Christmas coming up, I am pretty sure I speak for a lot of people when I say money is an issue. We don't have enough, we spend too much & save too little, go out for one too many pasta carbonara's and take a few taxi rides when really you can just walk.

Sooo, I thought I would do a money saving series with tips and tricks on how to save yourself a few bob to put towards that amazing dress you have had your eye on, for the car you have wanted for years or if you are like me and you want to move out into your own little nest. There is no harm in having a few pennies put away for a rainy day and I intend on doing my hardest to avoid unnecessary splurges so when the time comes to leave my current housie, I wont be entirely broke and can still enjoy myself without thinking, can I really afford that £3.00 magazine?

This series will run for five consecutive Fridays throughout November and will include things such as a spending diary, bargain finds, tips and pointers as well as all your savvy saving ideas mixed and shared all together on one page :)
And as I am an alliteration genius, I christen this series of mine Frugal Friday (we have already had Wednesday's Winter Essentials so it would be rude not to follow in suit!)

Firstly I want to know what YOU want from this series! I asked on my twitter this week if there is anything you are wanting to know about how to save or what you want to see, eg a spending diary or budget shopping trips such as a new outfit for £30 or a beginners make up kit for £20 etc etc. Let your imagination run wild and I will do my best to be as much help as possible.

To get involved simply pop your question or post suggestion in the comments below, via twitter or even on my instagram.

For all your tips and tricks you want to share on the final post of this series, please send your name, your saving secrets, plus any links you would like to include such as blog, twitter, YouTube etc to Please ensure you get these to me by Monday 25th November to stand a better chance of being included in the post!

I look forward to hearing from you all!

Tea Towel Tartan.

This is a little outfit I put together for casual autumn days featuring this pretty skater skirt from Asos which I have since discovered it has gone into the sale - grrrr!!
I have really been enjoying teaming skirts with chunky jumpers over the top - this one is from Primark last winter. It is REALLY warm so you don't even need to wear a vest underneath whilst the sun is out to play. Sheer tiggy tights keep my pins warm whilst helping to maintain my modesty!
My shoes are from Blue Inc. I never ever think to shop in there, my boyfriend never shops in there either so there has never been any need for me to take a visit. But clearly one day I thought to have a rummage and found these cute pointy suede pumps in the sale, I think they were like £8.00 so a pretty good find if you ask me.
I love piling on rings and have really gotten into the 'midi' trend. Yes I know I am horrifically late on the band wagon but I have taken my seat and will begrudgingly give it up.
I like to mix and match metals and love that midi rings enable you to subtly do this to make for a really eclectic look. I particularly love the wrap around cross ring from Black Tied. and the golden gem rings from Topshop.
My nail varnish is Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in Plum. Unfortunately I rushed these and they are a littlebit of a 'bodge job' but the colour is really pretty and perfect for autumn so I shall definitely be repainting them with more care next time.

Wassup Doc.

So for a very long time now I have been after the perfect pair of boots that would see my through winter and will be a staple in my wardrobe for years to come. Seeing as I have lusted after Dr Martens for longer than I can remember, I thought it was the perfect time to take the plunge.

Whilst browsing the huge array of beautiful booties and shoes, I kind of got a little bit carried away and brought two pairs. Sadly the second pair were a little too big so have been sent off to be replaced with a smaller size. Fingers crossed!

The pair that do fit and are my feet's new best friend are the Serena boots that are lined with what is described as faux fur and are so snug and warm. They are like putting your feet into THE NICEST, softest rug that you can't help but squidge your toes into.

I decided to go for these as they have a subtle brushed antique finish which I really love and to me look a little more slender than the original boot. I originally thought that they would make me look a little stupid due to have long gangly legs and long feet but I actually quite like the chunky look.

I have been pairing these with everything and can't wait to put them through their paces when the snow and winter weather really sets. I do however keep wondering why on earth I have no money left for the rest of the month and blame the evil place that is the Dr Marten website when trying to save. I may have bought Taylor Swift tickets too. Oops :)

Tag You're It | Pucker Up.

I was 'tagged' by the beautiful and ever so lovely Leah from Painted Daisies to share my ever growing lip collection of sticks, glosses, balms etc, my favourites and most lusted lip products.

Much like Leah, I am going to put my hands up and say that although my collection is a tiny bit excessive, I always go back to a certain few colours that I tend to reach for everyday.

How many lipsticks do you own?
I would say a good 30 including gloss, chubby sticks and balms.

What was your first lipstick?
Seeing as I am 22 and I first started dabbling in make up about 8 or 9 years, my first ever lipstick is a little hazy. I would imagine it was some bright candy pink, horrifically glittery and goopy lip gloss.
My first memory of a lip product though is my mum's Body Shop lip scuff. I used to love it and would always use it when she would let me - they have changed their formula now and it isn't as gritty as it once was but I still adore it.

What is your most worn lipstick?
This is pretty dull and I am a little ashamed to admit its Maybelline Baby Lips in Peach Kiss. You can read my full review on this balm here.
After admitting I wasn't overly bothered after the HUGE hype, this seems to be a product I repeatedly reach for and has taken residency in my hand bag for quick swipes of hydration.
I also love L'Oreal - Coral and Floral, it's a really pretty pink colour that is really moisturising and has a lovely sheen. I tend to opt for this when I want to make a little more effort.

What is your favourite brand of lipstick?
I feel as if I would be a blogging/beauty traitor if I didn't say MAC but honestly... I don't have a favourite. I have such a vast collection of different colours and brands that it would be hard to pick one out of the many makes available, but having said that I do seem to have quite a few L'Oreal lippies floating about.

What is your favourite finish?
I am not familiar with all the 'finishes' available however I looooove Sheen Supreme from MAC. It lives up to its name giving a gorgeous sheen. I do love matte finishes too but they tend to dry my lips too much for me to bother purchasing any more to add to my collection.

What is the last lip product you brought?
Lush Mint Julips sugar lip scrub. Not only is it DELICIOUS, it actually does the job of buffing all the dry and unattractive bits off my smackers really well ready for balms and lipsticks. I like to use this before bed too :)

How many lip products (everything) do you have in your bag?
Funny that you ask as I recently had a massive clear out and had roughly 12 lip products in there, hardly ever using one! I now carry about three, a balm, a gloss and a lipstick if I have chosen to wear one that day.

What product do you use to rock a red lip?
I don't aha! I have yet to find the perfect red shade that suits me and it's usually the times that I have just randomly experimented after work that it applies well and looks decent, never when I actually want/need it to look good.

How do you store your lipsticks?
I have a large make up bag that is dedicated to lip products, I would love proper storage, Muji have some great drawers and pots that I would like to invest in but think I will save all these exciting purchases when the day finally comes that I fly the nest.

What lip products are you currently lusting after?
After using Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream a few times after (very excitedly) receiving it in a GlossyBox, I have wanted to repurchase the full size. It isn't a glamourous item; it doesn't have an overly nice scent and there isn't anything interesting to its appearance but my lips feel amazing the morning after I have applied it!

It wouldn't be a tag post if I didn't then tag a few other beauties; here are the lucky few:

Wednesday's Winter Essentials; Weekend Warmer

And here we have it... the last but not least in my Winter Essentials series.
This post is a little inspo on what I will be wearing as we get stuck into the winter months, with cute skirts, chunky boots and rich, jewel tones.
So without further a do, lets get into it...

I want to talk about my favourite item first... this amazing, gorgeous, every positive adjective under the sun, skirt from Topshop. As soon as I saw it in store I knew I had to share it with you all. If you have read my blog for a while you will know I have a penchant for faux leather and what is more perfect than leather mixed with tartan? Not much in my books.
This would be so perfect for chilly days with tights as I have chosen here but also great for a night out.

I decided to team it with a deep blue shirt also from Topshop. I really love the colour of this shirt, it compliments the dark tones in the skirt perfectly but is a nice contrast to lift the dark leather.

To tie the outfit together, this plaited belt from River Island is really lovely. It is pretty enough to add a little extra interest but without detracting from the colours in the shirt and skirt combo.

To wrap up on winter walks and shopping escapades I chose this beautiful cocoon coat from BooHoo. The picture really doesn't do this piece justice but on the model it looks fabulous. I really love the black fur stole collar, I think it adds a really glamorous and expensive feel to the outfit without trying too hard. The grey toned blue really compliments the jewel tones in the skirt which I like too. The coat also comes in black which is nice and I think would look equally as nice with this outfit.

For a little vintage touch I chose this cute leather bag from none other than my accessory favourites; Zara.
It is such a lovely red toned brown that I think ties in nicely. I think black accessories would be nice but felt brown was a more autumnal alternative to lift the dark coat, tights and boots.

Talking about boots... these Vagabond's are phenomenal. Perfect day time height, chunky sole and Chelsea boot style, these have my name written all over them. They may not be ideal for ice and snow, but at least you will be able to walk through shallow puddles without compromising soggy soles, plus, when they look this good, are you even that bothered?! I think I would suffer a slip or two to own these beauties.

For make up I have gone for two options both from the MAC Mineralize Rich Lipstick range which will keep your lips moisturised in the rain, wind and snow. I decided to opt for a pale pink in the shade Divine Choice for a more subtle, pretty look and a deep berry tone for the days where you may want to look like you have made a little more effort. This red colour is in the shade Lush Life.

And what would a winter outfit be without winter red talons. I love this Barry M Nail Paint in Cosmo. It is the perfect tone for both day and night, I also love Raspberry from the same range.

And that is that! I hope you liked the series and have taken a little inspiration away for what you want to wear and buy in the run up to Winter and Christmas or have seen a few bits you may want to add to your list. Mine are the boots - JAMES IF YOU EVER READ THIS, PRETTY PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE <3

Be sure to let me know what was your favourite outfit out of all four posts and if you would like any other posts like this in the future?

This is my new favourite weekend look, all black errythang with a pop of colour from my new wardrobe staple, this gorge tartan scarf from... PRIMARK! I really need to go by more, at £4.00 they no doubt will be snapped up in a flash. It has been glued to my neck since I bought it and I have added it to every outfit, from contrasting paisley to woolly jumpers and skirts.

These leggings of mine are not anything new to my blog, I wear them so so often and love the contrast between the matte faux leather and sheer black blouse. Sorry not sorry if these are a little boring - but as my title says this is an insight to life as an average girl and this blog is a true reflection on what I deem as average. Girl needs to be saving money for Christmas splurges!

Another new addition to my favourites list are my Serena Doctor Martens. These are lined with a shearling type material and are SO comfy. I do not lie to you when I say these are like walking on a cloud, or a really nice snuggly rug as shock horror, I haven't actually stepped on a cloud :O

To jazz up the upper half of my outfit and add a little interest is this beautiful necklace from Black Tied. These little gold handcuffs have made their home around my neck for the past few weeks and I am not about to evict them. It is dainty enough to pair with a pretty floral dress or adds a little grungy edge to an outfit like this.

For wrist wear I am never without a watch, this time I went for this pretty number from Pandora which was a gift from le lover last year. I love the mix of metals which enabled me to stack this gorgeous hamsa hand bracelet also from Black Tied. The mix of coloured beads add a nice pop of colour to this predominantly black outfit. The metal feels really robust and chunky which I love for Autumn.

Wednesday's Winter Essentials; Boogie Nights

Here is the third quarter of my Winter Essentials series. This time it is giving you ideas of what to wear on a night out, bag essentials and products that last when the weather is at it's worst.

To give a bit of variety, I thought this time I would give two outfit options which you can work around to fit your style, shape and budget.

In look #1 I have gone for a grungey animal print t shirt dress from River Island. I love the slouchy fit which is the kind of style I like to go for on a night out. I would opt for bare legs but for a more casual and dressed down look, this would look as equally good with sheer tights and converse.

A night out outfit isn't complete in my books without a pair of heels; these boots from Jeffrey Campbell will keep your feet warm and protected from the winter elements but will easily carry you into next summer.

For jewellery I went for this chunky bronze chain which I think compliments the dress perfectly.
With rings, I love to stack them up with different metals, colours and sizes, both of these beauties are from BlackTied. I adore the turquoise triangle, it is so so pretty and looks lush on all skin tones.

For a bag a clutch is an essential to keep all your bits safe whilst you shimmy shake. I love this one from H&M. I very rarely shop in there as I find it never really caters for my figure but I love the accessories and the design of this bag is quirky but a staple piece due to its simple colour choice. It also has a strap which is great for daytime wear.

With an outfit so heavy in black, I picked this beautiful lipstick from Topshop to give a little lift to the face and a contrast to the grungy dress and boots. I really like Topshop lipsticks, their formulas are really long lasting with great colour pay off.

Outfit #2 is a little warmer featuring this pretty velvet midi dress. I love the orange tones which give a real autumnal feel to the look. The longer length means you won't be bearing all the winter elements but still flashing a little leg for those who are anti tights.

Shoes are these HUGE platforms from Topshop. I really love the wooden base and think it compliments the orange tones in the dress perfectly. As they are a more summery style I thought these would look cute paired with these tasselled socks also from Topshop. I really like these, they are a nice, fresh take on the frilly sock that has been huge for ages now.

I have kept jewellery simple with this lovely gold skull bangle from Black Tied. I think this would look great worn higher up the arm particularly with a sleeveless number.

This clutch is a little more dainty and sophisticated than in the previous outfit. This River Island box bag has a strap with enables hands free drink swigging and disco dancing but can be removed for a more elegant look.

For lips I have chosen this deep plum colour, again from the Topshop lipstick range. I think this would look gorgeous with hair swept back into a slick pony tail or top knot with a simple eye and bronzed cheek.

Now onto my most favourite tanning product in the whole entire world EVER!
Yes I said everrrrr! Say hello to Tights in a Tin, a spray on, wash off tan that has the best staying power from any other tan I have tried in the same aerosol design. It lasts perfectly in light to medium rain and stays put flawlessly until the next day which is perfect for hung over or sleepy days where you just want to mooch but cant be bothered to get perfectly ready. I usually buy mine from eBay as the prices on there are really competitive. I find the best shade is medium glow however if you do buy dark glow and find it a little too dark, mix it with a little moisturiser for a deeper sun kissed glow all over your body.

Have you ever tried tights in a tin? Let me know what you think!
